Web developer cover letter
A web developer letter should name the kind of site and one you have shipped. Praise for their brand is not evidence. The template, the form, or the editor workflow is the evidence.
Resume tips for a web developer
How to open
Say whether they need marketing pages, a store, or a product surface, and point to the closest site you shipped. Name the stack only for that example.
Your part of the team
If a designer handed you the screens, say that. Owning the implementation is the job. Pretending you also designed it is not required.
A constraint you met
Editors who must publish alone, a phone layout, or a form that had to validate are concrete. Pick the one their posting mentions.
No invented traffic
Do not claim a visitor count or a conversion figure you did not measure and cannot explain.
An example paragraph
This is an example to adapt, not a letter from a real applicant. Use it only where every detail is true for you.
You need article pages that editors can update. I shipped those templates for a publisher, including images and calls to action, and kept them readable on a phone.
What to skip
Skip a list of every framework you have opened, a redesign you only proposed, and any traffic claim. Skip a stack the resume does not support.
Questions
- Should I attach the site?
- Link it if it is public and you are allowed to. Do not attach credentials or an unpublished client build.
- What if their stack is new to me?
- Name the site you did ship and the part of the work that transfers. Do not write the new framework as if you have used it.
