Customer service representative resume tips

Customer service resumes blur together when they only say you helped people. Spell out the channel, the problems, and what you were allowed to do: refund, replace, escalate, or only explain. That is the job a supervisor is hiring.

What to put first

Say phone, chat, email, or in person, and the product or account type. Then say whether you followed a script, worked a knowledge base, or had authority to make a billing change. Put the closest channel to the posting first.

Channel and volume, in words

A dedicated phone queue is different from a shared inbox. Describe the pattern of your day without inventing a handle-time figure. "A full queue of billing questions" is enough when you do not have a number you trust.

What you could decide

State the actions you could take without a supervisor. Authority is scope. If you only documented and transferred, that is the truth, and some jobs want exactly that.

Systems you actually touched

Name the case tool or the billing screen if you used it. Do not list a popular platform because the posting did. A different tool, honestly named, is fine.

An example line

Adapt this only where it is true for you. It is a shape for a bullet, not a claim that a particular person did this work.

Answered billing questions by phone for a consumer subscription, with authority to refund one charge and a requirement to escalate anything that looked like fraud.

What to leave off

Leave off "people person," a list of soft skills with no channel, and metrics you were shown once in a team meeting but did not own. Leave off languages you cannot support a customer in.

Questions

Do I need a metric to get hired?
No. Channel, problem type, and authority tell the story. Add a metric only when you know how it was calculated and that it was yours.
Should I mention an angry-customer story?
A single calm example of a policy you followed is useful. A dramatic story is not, and it should not include a customer's private details.
