Executive assistant resume tips

An executive assistant resume should name the kind of principal you supported and the decisions you made without them. Calendar control, travel, board materials, and a gate on their time are different scopes. The title alone is not the scope.

Cover letter for an executive assistant

What to put first

Say the principal's function, not their private life: a founder, a hospital executive, a partner in a firm, a public official if you are allowed to say so. Then the systems you ran. Be discreet about anything that is not the work itself.

The calendar as a product

Describe the kind of time you protected: external meetings, a travel week, a board cycle. Say whether you could decline meetings. That authority is the job.

Materials and logistics

Board books, briefing notes, travel that actually departed, expenses. Name what you produced. A vendor you managed belongs here if you chose them or only if you coordinated them. Say which.

Confidentiality shown by omission

Do not include compensation, health, family, or personnel secrets you were trusted with. You can say you handled confidential material. The contents stay out.

An example line

Adapt this only where it is true for you. It is a shape for a bullet, not a claim that a particular person did this work.

Supported a firm partner: owned the external calendar, built the briefing packet for client meetings, and declined conflicts that did not need the partner's time.

What to leave off

Leave off gossip, the principal's name if you are not comfortable or not allowed, and a list of celebrities or clients meant to impress. Leave off tasks a team assistant did if you did not do them.

Questions

Should I name the executive?
Name the function unless the person is already public in connection with you and you are comfortable. The scope matters more than the name.
How is this different from an administrative assistant resume?
The difference is the authority and the principal, not a fancier adjective. If you did not control a senior calendar, do not imply that you did.
