What is your remote or hybrid preference?
Remote, hybrid, and on site are different jobs under similar titles. This question asks which patterns you will accept. The employer is staffing a week, not collecting a lifestyle.
What the employer is checking
They are checking whether you can keep the schedule the role needs: a site, certain days together, travel, or work from home. They also check that your answer matches the posting. An on-site job, answered as remote only, is a contradiction they do not have to resolve for you.
How to answer honestly
Say the pattern you will accept for this role. If you need fully remote work, say that, and do not apply to a job that is on site every day unless you would take it. If you can do hybrid, say which days you can be on site and any city limit. Name a shift, a travel limit, or a home constraint that would make you decline. Do not agree on the form and renegotiate after they have invested in you.
A short example
These are shapes, not answers from a real applicant. Use the stronger one only where every detail is true for you.
Good. I can work the hybrid pattern this posting describes, including being on site on the days the team is there. I am not applying for a fully on-site week, and I do not need the role to be fully remote.
Bad. I prefer remote only, but I selected hybrid and on site as well so a filter would not drop me. I will say I cannot come in once I have an interview.
Pitfalls
- Selecting every option so a filter will pass you.
- Ignoring a time zone or a shift that makes the preference impossible.
- Calling a long commute remote because you would rather not move.
How ApplyASAP answers it
ApplyASAP answers from the work pattern you already said you want. It does not rewrite a remote-only preference into on site to chase a posting, and it never invents experience in a workplace you have not been in.
ApplyASAP drafts answers from your real resume and never invents experience. It does not change your employers, dates, degrees, or titles, and it does not invent a number, a certification, or a person you managed.
Guides that support this answer
Resume tips and cover letters are where the longer proof for this answer lives. The roles below are close to that proof. Reading a posting, tailoring, and follow-up live in the job search guides.
Questions
- What if I am flexible?
- Say so, and name any pattern you would still refuse. Flexible, with a hidden refusal, is how this answer goes wrong.
- Does hybrid mean I choose the days?
- Not unless the posting says so. Hybrid usually means their pattern. Answer whether you can keep theirs.
