Dental hygienist cover letter
Hygiene letters should open with the license and the practice type. The chair they need and the appointment you already provide are the rest. Do not spend the note on why you chose the field.
Resume tips for a dental hygienist
How to open
Name general, pediatric, or periodontal practice, and the state license. Add a permit only if you hold it and they asked. Then one appointment type you already complete.
The visit
Charting, images, and the cleaning or maintenance visit are enough. Say if the dentist exam followed your handoff.
Permits
If they want local anesthesia and you have the permit, say so. If you do not, do not imply you can start next week under a rule you have not met.
Software second
Mention the charting system only if you have used it or to say yours was different.
An example paragraph
This is an example to adapt, not a letter from a real applicant. Use it only where every detail is true for you.
I am applying to a general practice. I hold an active hygiene license in this state, I complete charting and images, and I provide adult prophylaxis and maintenance before the dentist exam.
What to skip
Skip anesthesia or images you are not allowed to do, a production claim, and patient details. Skip a lapsed permit written as current.
Questions
- Should I mention temporary or travel work?
- Yes if that is how you practiced, and name the duties. Do not hide gaps by stretching dates.
- What if I am moving states?
- Say where you are licensed today and that the new state is not finished unless it is. Do not write the new license early.
