Dental hygienist resume tips
A dental hygienist resume is a license and an operatory. Reviewers look for the credential, the patients you saw, and which duties you performed: periodontal charting, images, scaling, sealants, or anesthesia if your state and your permit allow it. A general love of dentistry does not say whether you can run their chair.

What to put first
Put the license and the state under your name, and any local-anesthesia or nitrous permit you actually hold. Then the practice type: general, pediatric, periodontal, or public health. The first bullets are the duties you finished without inventing a production number.
The appointment
Describe the visit you provided: charting, images you exposed, scaling and root planing if that was in your book, fluoride, or sealants. If a dentist performed a step, do not claim it.
What you were allowed to do
Anesthesia, nitrous, and laser use depend on the state and on a permit. Write them only when both are true. Assisting once is not a permit.
The record and the handoff
Name the practice software if you charted in it. Mention how you handed findings to the dentist. Do not include a patient's diagnosis or a claim about case acceptance you cannot explain.
An example line
Adapt this only where it is true for you. It is a shape for a bullet, not a claim that a particular person did this work.
Licensed hygienist in a general practice: completed periodontal charting and images, provided adult prophylaxis and maintenance visits, and reviewed findings with the dentist before the exam.
What to leave off
Leave off a lapsed license, duties your state does not allow you, and production or acceptance figures. Leave off a patient story. Leave off "gentle care" in place of the operatory.
Questions
- Should I list every instrument?
- Name the work: ultrasonic scaling, hand scaling, images. A catalog of brand names is weaker than the appointment you were trusted to finish.
- What if I have not done root planing?
- Say prophylaxis and maintenance if that is the book. Do not add periodontal therapy to match a posting.
