Social media manager cover letter
Social letters often compliment the brand's latest post and forget to say what the writer did. Name the kind of account and whether you wrote, replied, or bought ads. Then stop.
Resume tips for a social media manager
How to open
State organic, community, or paid, and the brand type you have handled. Point to one example you can show.
The unglamorous half
Mention replies, approvals, or a calendar. Many managers are hiring for that reliability, not for a single popular post.
Voice
Say if you wrote in a brand voice that was not your personal voice. That is a skill. Quoting their slogan back is not.
No growth promise
Do not promise a follower or sales total. You have not seen their account from the inside.
An example paragraph
This is an example to adapt, not a letter from a real applicant. Use it only where every detail is true for you.
You want someone to write and reply for a food brand, not only to schedule assets. I wrote a weekly calendar for a regional food brand, answered customer questions, and briefed the monthly shoot.
What to skip
Skip a claim that you will make them go viral, follower counts you cannot source, and posts you are not allowed to show. Skip a critique of their current feed.
Questions
- Should I audit their accounts in the letter?
- A single observation is risky and usually unnecessary. Show your work instead.
- What if I have only run personal or campus accounts?
- Label them honestly and describe the calendar and the replies. Do not call a campus club a national brand.
