Project manager resume tips

A project manager resume should name the kind of work being delivered and what you personally kept on track. "Led cross-functional teams" fits almost any posting and tells a reviewer almost nothing. The domain and the artifact are the evidence.

What to put first

Say what was being built or changed: software, a building, a clinic workflow, a product launch, or an internal system. Then say whether you owned the schedule, the budget, the risks, or only the status ritual. People confuse those.

Artifact over ceremony

Name the plan, the risk list, the vendor schedule, or the launch checklist you maintained. A methodology label is optional. The artifact shows the job.

Authority, stated plainly

If you could move a date or only report it, say which. If engineers or contractors did not report to you, do not write as if they did.

Domain words you earned

A construction schedule and a software release are both projects. Use the vocabulary of the one you ran. Do not collect both to look versatile unless you have done both.

An example line

Adapt this only where it is true for you. It is a shape for a bullet, not a claim that a particular person did this work.

Kept the launch checklist for a retail site release: the content freeze, the payment test, and the list of open defects the engineering lead had agreed were blockers.

What to leave off

Leave off methodology acronyms you cannot walk through, budgets you did not control, and team-size claims that count everyone who was copied on an email. Leave off results owned by the specialists.

Questions

Does the resume need a certification?
Only if you have it, and only written as the issuer writes it. The projects are the proof either way.
What if I coordinated without the title?
Use your real title and describe the coordination you did. Do not give yourself a title the company did not use.
